Hold one side of the lid on the rim, pull the opposite side over with the long tab, then work the edge down all the way around. New lids come packed together and can arrive slightly creased or clinging to each other, so peel them apart slowly; wash them by hand and let them air dry before first use, since new silicone can have a faint smell. Stretch the lid gradually and evenly rather than pulling hard on one tab, and do not stretch it over sharp or chipped rims. On smooth glass, make sure the rim is clean and dry; if a lid slides off, try the next smaller size. Do not use the lids in an oven, microwave or over direct heat. Wash the lids by hand with mild dish soap and water, rinse, let them air dry, then nest them for storage.

Your questions, answered
<details>
Are they hard to stretch?

Stretching a lid over a rim takes some pull, more so with the larger sizes.
